I've decided that for travel and daily use, convenience trumps just about everything else for me. I'm currently using the GR IIIx (Urban Edition) as my go-to camera and have been very pleased with the quality and sharpness of its images - not to mention it's incredibly small size.
The announcement includes several sample product shots, which reveal a design mostly consistent with the current generation. Notable changes appear on the back, particularly the addition of the +
and -
controls on the upper-right.

As a GR IIIx user, I’m unlikely to switch, as the GR IV's wider field of view (28mm equivalent) doesn't suit my preferences compared to the 40mm equivalent on the GR IIIx.
Nonetheless, it's great to see continued innovation in the premium compact camera space. Now if only Sony would upgrade the RX100 VII.
